Photoluminescence in nanosystems 

​​We control the photoluminescence properties of nanoparticles excited in the near infrared (NIR), such as lanthanide-doped upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) and silver sulfide (Ag2S) nanoparticles, with the aim of developing biosensors  and bioimaging.

Slow and fast light propagation (2007-2018)

Slow (fast) light is the propagation of an optical pulse at very low (high) group velovity. 

We developed experiments to generate slow and fast light in erbium-doped fibers based on coherence population oscillations (CPO). A weak field propagates in a transparency hole created in the absorption spectrum by a strong field with a slightly different frequency.

Atomic coherence effects (2002-2016)

Atomic coherence is the induced coherence between levels that occurs in multi-lelvel atomic systems interacting with coherent electromagnetic fields. We analyze several effects as electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT), lasing wihtout inversion (LWI), index enhancamentt. We also studied surface plasmon effects on excitonic populations in quantum dots.
