Ashley Thomas

I am a PhD student in the Sarnecka Cognitive Development Lab in the Cognitive Sciences Department at the University of California, Irvine. My research focuses on two areas: the first is social & moral cognition in babies and preschoolers. My current work explores how children understand social hierarchies and how this affects their behavior. The second explores how people’s moral intuitions affect how they perceive and assess risk (and vice versa). I am particularly interested in whether these two factors encourage new moral norms. I am a strong supporter of open science, including non-commercial open access journals.
