My primary source is a physical location. The physical location is a pyramid or also referred to as a Yacata in Michoacan Mexico. It was built by the Purepechas, an indigenous group before colonization. In my research paper, I will be researching and analyzing a built environment. I will describe how indigenous people around this area have been ignored and their history has been erased. As well as analyzing how indigenous people have been able to benefit from tourism in the area. Other scholarly conversations around this topic include the indigenous community continuing to prosper in modern-day Mexico and in general how the indigenous communities have been affected by colonization. For the purpose of this essay, I will analyze the built environment of the pyramids in Michoacan and describe the museumification and touristification of the pyramids.
