The Odyssey 9 was an intriguing story, it had a lot to dissect and unpack. When discussing the Odyssey with Prof. Giannopoulou and in our seminar, there were a lot of mixed feelings about the character and what was wrong or what was right. Overall, every character had its flaws and fine points. The most intriguing thing I heard in the lectures was the reasoning behind the Odyssey 9. Odysseus portrayed himself as a hero and seemed to exaggerate and embellish his story for the Phaeacians and their gifts. It is also interesting how the storyteller doesn't immediately introduce himself to the audience but immediately begins to boast and brag about himself. Odysseus has an amusing way of storytelling, though he is flattering himself he slowly shows his unreliability as a storyteller. He does so by demonstrating his manipulative and selfish ways in his own story.
