Seed Library

About

UCI Housing Sustainability welcomes campus community members to seed libraries to pick up free seeds for personal use. This program is forged in partnership with UCI Sustainability Resource Center, ASUCI Sustainability and Garden Commission, UCI FRESH Basic Needs Hub, Arroyo Vista Student Council, and Verano Place Resident Council. The purpose of the seed library program is to foster a campus culture of sustainability and resilience as it enables a community of backyard and container farmers.

Locations

Seed Libraries are available in four campus locations.

Patrons can visit the Sustainability Resource Center on the fourth floor of the UCI Student Center or the FRESH Basic Needs Hub.

NEW! Outdoor seed libraries are place at the Verano Place and Arroyo Vista student gardens since Summer 2020.

We welcome seed donations!

We invite community members to collect and donate seeds from plants in their garden that have “gone to seed” to replenish our library and continue to empower others to start their own gardens. Just one seed donation to the library is an appreciated and valuable gift to the community! We encourage the saving and sharing of non-genetically modified seeds. These seeds will produce more seeds to allow for planting again year after year. For tips visit "Why save seeds?"
