If you are thinking about pursuing a PhD degree in physics at the University of Chicago and are interested in the areas of soft matter or biophysics then this site is a good entry point. Ten UChicago Physics research groups are working actively in these areas. They are the groups of Margaret Gardel, William Irvine, Heinrich Jaeger, Peter Littlewood, Arvind Murugan, Sidney Nagel, Stephanie Palmer, Michael Rust, Vincenzo Vitelli, and Tom Witten. Links to their websites are listed at the bottom of this page.
We are having information sessions for prospective graduate students on December 2, 2021, where we will provide a brief overview of soft matter and biophysics research at UChicago followed by time for Q&A with faculty. There will be two timeslots to accommodate different time zones. Both events will be on Zoom.
Times: 10:30am - noon and 8:00-9:30pm (all times are Chicago times)
