This course will be centered around interactive learning systems and will cover topics in a variety of interactive learning scenarios, where human is an integral part of the learning and decision-making process.
We will discuss research papers related to interactive learning broadly defined, include active learning (where learner chooses which examples it wants labeled), interpretable and explainable learning systems (where the learner communicates with human users via explanatory feedback), crowdsourcing (where supervisions are solicited from the crowd), and machine teaching (where learning happens with a knowledge teacher providing helpful examples or demonstrations).
Students will read and discuss recent research papers, as well as conduct a research project.
