Yan (Sophie) Xu

Ph.D. Candidate in Agricultural and Resource Economics

University of California, Davis

My main fields of specialization are agricultural economics and applied econometrics.

My current research falls into two main categories: causes of food waste at each stage of the food supply chain and the economic viability of alternative soil fumigants which are chemical free and utilize farm wastes.

I am also a member of the Food Loss and Waste Collaborative at the University of California, Davis.

In my free time, I enjoy growing organic vegetables and interviewing farmers to learn from their farming experience.
