Specific destination countries for China's NEV exports
Looking at 2024 China's NEV export destinations, Belgium became the largest export market for Chinese NEVs, followed by Brazil and UK.
Before 2019, the export volume of NEVs was relatively high, but most of the passenger vehicle exports consisted of micro low-speed electric cars, with only a small number of mainstream NEV models. Recently, both the quality and volume of high-end new energy passenger car exports have shown improvement. By 2025, 70% of BEVs come from mainstream manufacturers. Low-speed micro EVs still have a decent market.
The main export markets for NEVs are Europe and Asia, with Asia also showing solid demand for lower-end models. This year, most major NEV export markets have experienced strong growth, with the exception of a few Southeast Asian countries. Notably, Indonesia has shown robust performance, emerging as a new growth driver for NEVs in the region.
