Hello! I am a third-year History PhD student at the University of California, Davis. My area of specialization is 20th century US History, particularly Democratic Party politics from the 1970s-1990s. My minor field is in European History.
In 2019, I graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Riverside, double majoring in History and Public Policy. Prior to my graduate studies, I was an intern at the California State Assembly in Speaker Anthony Rendon's Protocol Office.
My research interests include the presidency, the US Congress, and Democratic Party politics. My most recent research project was an institutional history of the Office of Appropriate Technology (OAT), created during California Governor Jerry Brown's first tenure. I argued that OAT demonstrated the capacity of state government to promote ideas and provide funding for alternative energy projects, while also encouraging local governments and individuals to start projects in their own communities. The office started as an idea-generating machine for the governor and expanded to oversee projects that demonstrated potential for future investment, yet ultimately failed to entrench itself in state government after Brown left office. Although the office closed, its existence illustrated one Democratic response to rising conservatism in the state of California.
