Yarberry (Dr. Y)

Welcome

My name is Dr. Faith Yarberry. I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas. I then went on to pursue my Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. (Go Eagles for both.)

Currently I am a Lecturer II in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Central Arkansas. My area of interest is Chemical Education.

In addition to my work in the field of chemistry, I am an advisor for the University of Central Arkansas American Chemical Society Chapter, the Treasurer for the Central Arkansas Section of the American Chemical Society (treasurer@centralarkansasacs.org), a member of the Committee on Community Activities for the American Chemical Society national organization, and a Professional Representative for Alpha Chi Sigma (faith.yarberry@alphachisigma.org) which is a professional chemistry fraternity.

My research revolves around improving the education of chemistry students through the development and implementation of a variety of tools.

I teach Fundamental Chemistry, General Chemistry for the Health Sciences, College Chemistry I and II, and Introduction to Organic and Biochemistry.

Welcome to the World of Professor Why?

The relationship between relative quantities of substances taking part in chemical reaction or making up chemical compounds.

Gas Laws, Kinetics, Rydberg-Balmer Equation, Metric/English Conversions, Acid/Base Titration

Lewis Dot Structures, Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion Theory (VSEPR), Valence Bond Theory (VB), and Molecule Polarity described for approximately 100 molecules

Arkansas Talented Optimistic Motivated Scholars Program in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Central Arkansas

The University of Central Arkansas has an extremely active student group of the American Chemical Society that meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month during the Academic Year.

The Central Arkansas Section of the American Chemical Society provided opportunities to interact with chemists throughout the central Arkansas area.

Alpha Chi Sigma members are individuals with a passion for chemistry. We have for our objects:

  • To bind its members with a tie of true and lasting friendship

  • To strive for the advancement of chemistry both as a science and as a profession

  • To aid its members by every honorable means in the attainment of their ambitions as chemists throughout their mortal lives.
