Course Objective
The goal for this class is to provide all Seniors with the writing and comprehension skills required to succeed in their chosen path after graduating high school. If you know me, I am excited to see you again and pick up with the foundation of skills we laid last year. If we are meeting for the first time, I want you to know that I am excited to meet you and guide you through your senior year. The final English course at UACHS is the culmination of an experience that scholars begin in English I. Scholars examine the theme of self-discovery and finding their place in the world as they prepare to leave Audenried. The expectation is that a critical and progressive worldview has taken shape in the scholar, and that the scholar is now ready to analyze their own thinking, as well as ideas from great writers like Ta-Nehisi Coates, August Wilson, and Elie Wiesel.

Discussion is used for assessment more often than in previous years, and the standards, though aligned to PA Common Core, are more rigorously assessed from a college lecture-type setting. All of the scholar’s experience through the UACHS English curriculum culminates in their Senior Action Paper. Here, scholars are given the opportunity to showcase the skills they’ve honed during their time at Audenried. Scholars will incorporate their CTE experience and training into a research paper describing a future career path as well as identifying and researching solutions to potential hindrances to their future success. The Senior Action Paper is a practice in the craft of research, editing, writing, and it is designed to prepare scholars for their careers and the college classroom.

about me
about me
This is my 10th year teaching Senior English at Audenried.
Prior to Audenried I taught English 9-12 at PET CHS for 14 years, English 9 at Clayton HS in North Carolina for 1 year, where I was also the varsity track coach, and I taught GED at Gowanda Correctional Facility for 1 year.
I am committed to working with students to face the challenges of the 2025-2026 school year head on. I look forward to us celebrating your graduation in June.
