We will promote academic equity and collaborate for best practices regarding each English Learners' unique proficiency level. Welcome Back ESOL Scholars!
First of all, let me thank you for your excellent WIDA Scores and your great reclassification. We had the highest ever reclassification for last year. I am so proud of each of you as you have increased your WIDA scores. As well, we have 16 different native languages so far in our English Learning Development Department at the #1 neighborhood high school, Universal Audenried Charter High School! WONDERFUL!
I have truly missed you over Summber break. I hope you each had a great Summer and are ready to get straight As for this new school year. It is going to be a great year of learning together. We will continue to focus on all aspects of English Language Learning Proficiency to promote academic equity in every content classroom. I especially look forward to you achieving the next level in your annual WIDA ACCESS 2.0 in January of 2027. Congratulations to those of you that have reclassified and now having the status of 1st Year Monitors! Outstanding! So many of you are so close to reclassifying. You can do it!
As always, I will be supporting you academically, socially, and emotionally so that you will succeed in every class that you take at Audenried. The goal is to create academic equity at your English language proficiency level. In particular, you will be challenged in academic rigor to think, pair, share, collaborate, analyze, and evaluate. You will take your reading comprehension skills and literary analysis to the highest level through your writing. You will critically think in the ESOL classroom and every content classroom at Universal Audenried Charter High School.
Just a few more weeks of identifying, screening, & testing for our placement of the newest English Learners. Some of you will return to the ESOL classroom. Sheltered ESOL 2, 3, & LifeSkills classes will tentatively begin September 22nd. Others of you will be mainstreamed and will then be supported by push in/pull out ESL services. Tutoring begins right away. It will be before, during, and after school ESOL classroom B220 Monday-Friday, 7:30-7:45am and 3:25-3:45pm. Please email me at cmyer@uarockets.org by 2pm to reserve your tutoring afternoon session and your following morning session. If you have a grade of C or below, please ask your teacher to send you to ESOL classroom B220 to support you for classwork, papers, projects, and assessments. Remember that your high school grade point average (GPA) carries for your whole life. Make your GPA the best yet for college and career!
It is very important that you attend school daily and arrive at school by 7:30am. Always be prompt to each class, always be in uniform, always be respectful, and always be prepared to succeed at Audenried. Always have the mindset for excellence! You ELs are the shining stars at Audenried.
I am so proud of each of you. I can't wait to see you because 2026-2027 will be the best yet!
All the best,
Mrs. Myer
