To commemorate the School of Management's 25th anniversary in 2022 and recognize its graduates' accomplishments, the school developed the UA&P Helm Awards.
The helm, which serves as SMN's official logo, is a nautical steering wheel used to navigate a ship. It metaphorically refers to someone in a position of authority, control, or leadership.
Purpose
The UA&P Helm Awards recognizes alumni who have made important contribution to society and whose accomplishments, affiliations, and careers have upheld the institution's tradition of excellence. It also highlights the institution's impact to the local, national, and international communities.
The award program reflects the distinctive culture through its vision and mission, curriculum, and student involvement, boosting the self-worth of all students—past and present, staff, professors, and administration.
Criteria for Selection
To be eligible for the award, all nominees must meet the criteria mentioned below, in addition to their successful careers:
Honesty / Integrity - the nominee should have unquestionable moral and personal integrity.
Excellence in Leadership – the nominee must have exhibited excellence in leadership competencies which are essential in accomplishing the work for which they are being recognized.
Legendary Impact – the nominee's work must have a remarkable, positive, and constructive effect on the community, geographic area, or sector in which it is located. The nominee's long-term and transformative effort must be demonstrated and must have a multiplier effect.
Motivating Effect – the nominee's work and/or accomplishments must have inspired and empowered the local, national, or global community to positive action. He or she must have exhibited a dedication to service by demonstrating an interest in improving others' lives.

The UA&P HELM Alumni Awards are conferred under two (2) levels: Junior and Senior.
The Young Trailblazers is open to alumni who graduated within the last fifteen (15) years (Batch 2010–2025).
The Hallmark Leaders is open to alumni who graduated in 2009 or earlier.
All award categories may be granted under either level.
Nominees may be submitted under one (1) award category only per nomination cycle. The Selection Committee reserves the right to reclassify nominations to the category deemed most appropriate.
The categories for UA&P Helm Awards 2026 are as follows:
UA&P Helm Alumni Achievement Award (National/International Level)
Conferred on alumni whose work or leadership has produced measurable and sustained impact at the national or international level, regardless of industry or field.
UA&P Helm Alumni Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Awarded to alumni who have demonstrated exceptional innovation, entrepreneurial leadership, or business creation that generates economic, technological, or social value.
UA&P Helm Alumni Award for Community Engagement and Social Advocacy
Recognizes alumni actively involved in voluntarism, social development, advocacy, inclusive business, or grassroots initiatives that improve the lives of communities.
Social Enterprise Award - Recognizes Recognizes alumni who create or lead mission-driven enterprises that apply sustainable business models to address social issues, empower communities, and generate inclusive economic opportunities.
Public Enterprise Award - Recognizes alumni who demonstrate exemplary leadership in public service, advancing community development through effective governance, policy implementation, and the delivery of essential public programs and services.
UA&P Helm Alumni Award for Professional Achievement
Given to alumni who have attained distinction and leadership in their profession, including the corporate sector, academe, research, or other professional fields.
The School of Management reserves the right to confer or withhold awards in any category should nominations fail to meet the standards of excellence.
1. Nominees must be nominated by a third party (e.g., employer, colleague, ex-colleague). School of Management employees cannot nominate or be nominated.
2. Nominators must accomplish the online nomination form which may be accessed through the link below.
3. Nominators may nominate as many qualified alumni as possible.
4. Nominees may be nominated in multiple categories, but can only win in one.
5. All submissions shall undergo an initial screening for eligibility and completeness.
6. Qualified nominations shall proceed to a secondary evaluation and scoring process. Finalists will be assessed by a Jury composed of representatives from the School of Management and selected external stakeholders.
7. Evaluation shall be based on the HELM criteria and the relevance of achievements to the chosen award category.
8. The decision of the Jury is final and binding.
