Hypothesis
If I complete the one student, 5 actions, 5 days challenge with a student from each class , then I will see progress in student success, as measured by attendance, engagement, completion of assignments, and growth in skills.
Target group
3 students in my A, C, and F band.
Baseline data
Gathered through: attendance data, frequency of participation/ on-task, submitted assignments, skill improvement
Measuring success
Based on: whether the student attends class more frequently, if the student is an active participant in class (on-task), if the student has turned in assignments with greater frequency, if the student has shown improvement in skills.
Actionable steps
If you want to use this strategy in your classroom, I recommend …
Targeting students that will challenge you. Do not just do this for the sake of doing it, be really intentional about the student you pick
Collect baseline data that you feel will benefit the student. I chose attendance, participation, submitted assignments, and skill improvement because these things generally correlate with student success. The targeted students had been lacking in these areas to varying degrees and I wanted to see if the 5 days, 5 actions could improve that.
