To help plan your trip to VSAWC 2024, we have put together the following information about travelling to Canmore.
Getting to Canmore
The Calgary International Airport is located approximately 120km from our conference hotel in Canmore. Unless you are within driving distance to Canmore, we suggest flying to Calgary and taking a shuttle into Canmore.
The Banff Airporter travels frequently between the Calgary Airport and the Coast Canmore Hotel, and costs $153.98 + GST for an adult return ticket. We recommend booking in advance through their website. They have an information desk located inside the airport between exit doors 5 and 6 on the arrivals level, which is where you will check in to catch your shuttle.
Conference Hotel
Coast Canmore Hotel and Conference Centre, 511 Bow Valley Trail, Canmore (https://www.coasthotels.com/coast-canmore-hotel-and-conference-centre). Find hotel info here.
Finding Coffee/Tea and Food
Breakfast, lunch, and snacks (including coffee and tea) are included in your registration fees and will be provided on site at the conference.
For those looking for additional options close to the conference, we recommend Cacao 70, Beamer's Coffee, Blondies' Cafe, and Rocky Mountain Bagel Company. Fast food options (including Edo Japan, Subway, Freshii, and A&W) are also steps away from the hotel.
For dinners: some restaurant suggestions that are a quick walk from the conference hotel include...
The Roaring Rolls (modern Indian fusion)
Rocket Pie (pizza)
The Sensory ("elevated dining")
Table Food and Drink (restaurant in the Coast Hotel)
Middle Sister's Kitchen (primarily gluten free, with many options including dairy free and vegan)
The Paw (pub-style food, part of the Grizzly Paw Brewing Company)
Blake ("creative international fusion food & drinks")
Exploring Downtown Canmore
From the hotel, walk along Railway Ave and turn left onto 8 St, which takes you into the heart of downtown Canmore. You will find many more restaurant options and lots of shops, including the wonderful Cafe Books.
To learn more about what is available, visit Downtown Canmore's website.
Canmore is known for its walking trails, such as the Policeman's Creek Boardwalk, which is right by our conference site. For more information about walking and hiking trails in and around Canmore, visit the Canmore Kananaskis website's information page.
