WH. Hadrons
One particular type of composite particle deserves special treatment. Hadrons (composites of quarks) are of two known types (though there has been speculation regarding the existence of other types). Given this uncertainty it is best to classify these in terms of the number of quarks:
2. Mesons (one quark and one antiquark)
3. Baryons (made of three quarks)
n. neutrons
p. protons
5. Pentaquarks (hypothesized to contain four quarks and one antiquark). Though the consensus among physicists is that these do not exist, we need to be able to classify works regarding these and other possible hadrons.
