Differences in opinion regarding these could be reduced by further subdivision. Though perfect definitions are elusive, some clarity can be achieved by describing the general attitude of each ideology toward how leaders and policies are chosen, government economic activity, and so on.
It is worth noting that these terms are ambiguous within the field of political philosophy, not just outside it. That is, a domain-specific classification would also face problems of ambiguity, unless the sort of exercises in subdivision and/or definition suggested above were performed. There is thus no harm in placing these concepts in a universal classification rather than a domain-specific classification: scholars of ideology will be as well served, and others will have easier access. Nevertheless, domain analysis could clarify the meanings of these concepts in terms of more basic concepts.
