Polymers are large or macro-molecules which are composed of repeating subunits (that is, repeating chemical bonds). Though there are many classifications of polymers, if we focus on polymer essence rather than function, there are three broad types of polymer commonly referenced in the literature, and often a fourth 'natural' class:
1. Thermoplastics
a. Amorphous
c. Crystalline
2. Thermosets
3. Elastomers
4. Natural polymers [Note that these are often captured under B, given their importance to human life.]
