MX. Mixtures
Several key types of mixture can be identified:
1. Aerosols (solid): solid particles in a gas. E.g. smoke
2. Aerosols: (liquid) liquid particles in a gas. E.g. fog
3. Sols or Colloids: solid particles in a liquid.
E.g. Milk of Magnesia is a sol with solid magnesium hydroxide in water.
4. Suspension: particles bigger and will settle out.
5. Emulsions: liquid particles in liquid. E.g. Mayonnaise is oil in water.
6. Gels: liquids in solid. Substances that are mainly liquid but behave much like solids.
E.g. gelatin is protein in water. Quicksand is sand in water.
