The Arthur B. McDonald Fellowships recognize early-stage academic researchers in the natural sciences and engineering, and support them in enhancing their research capacity so that they can become leaders in their field and inspire others. NSERC awards up to six McDonald Fellowships each year.
Dr. Kwon is one of 6 candidates nominated by the U of A for the award. The 2026 fellowship recipient will receive $250,000 over 2 years, and will be relieved of teaching and administrative duties for the duration of the fellowship to focus on their research.
