Let's Meet Josh Benner

What are your hobbies and passions?

I enjoy leading an active lifestyle. Those hobbies include going to the gym, hiking in the mountains and going for runs! I am also very passionate about photography, woodworking, and DIY home-building projects in my spare time.

What is your favourite travel story?

This past May (2024), myself and seven classmates were lucky enough to go on an exchange trip to Dresden, Germany to visit their dental school. While there, we got to experience two weeks of what it is like to be a German dental student. I have never been to Europe so it was fascinating to experience their culture, historic architecture, and European food; we even were invited to several of their parties which was cool to compare stories with the dental students there. 

On the weekend we traveled to Prague which was a highlight of the trip for our group. The days were spent exploring the cobblestone streets and visiting different cathedrals around the city. The nights were spent dancing, singing, and eating good food until we watched the sun come up... literally! It was a great time and definitely a highlight of my dental school experience so far! 

What do you love about your profession the most?

I think dentistry is a beautiful culmination of art, science, and medicine. I find all three of these things very powerful and being able to deliver treatment that I can be proud of and that can make a patient smile and/or take them out of pain is one of the most rewarding things I can do for someone.
