Dr. Brian Buchanan MD FRCPC
Dr. Brian Buchanan is a intensivist, internist and transport/flight physician who is active in wide range of critical care/point-of-care ultrasound applications. He practices primarily at the University of Alberta Hospital in the General Systems Intensive Care Unit. He has completed fellowship training in critical care ultrasound including trans-thoracic/esophageal echocardiography, vascular, lung and trauma ultrasound. Brian has co-directed and instructed in various national and international critical care ultrasound courses and authored multiple chapters in critical care echocardiography. Dr. Buchanan is an adult echocardiography diplomate with the National Board of Echocardiography. His clinical and research interests include medical education, curriculum development, critical care ultrasonography and quality assurance.
Dr. Aws Alherbish MD FRCPC
Dr. Aws Alherbish is an intensivist, cardiologist and echocardiographer with an experienced background in resuscitative echocardiography and a wide range of critical care ultrasound applications. He practices at both the University of Alberta hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton. He is currently the Cardiac Care Unit Co-Director at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. His main interests are in cardiac critical care, cardiac and non-cardiac ultrasound applications for the critically ill and advanced echocardiography.
Dr. Jean Deschamps MD FRCPC
Dr. Jean Deschamps is a general internist currently completing critical care training at the University of Alberta. He has completed advanced training in trans-thoracic/ trans-esophageal echocardiography, with a specific focus on right ventricular dysfunction in which he has co-authored various publications. His clinical and research interests include pulmonary hypertension and right ventricular dysfunction, critical care cardiac and non-cardiac ultrasonography, and medical education in those fields.
