Meet Grace C.

Clinic Administrator

Evergreen Wellness

Summer 2023 (8 month term)

"As the Clinic Administrator for Evergreen Wellness, I’ve been responsible for all of the administrative-related procedures at the practice. This ranges from booking appointments and sending out intake forms, to submitting insurance claims and running financial reports. I also currently manage our digital and email marketing, which includes creating and scheduling social media content (something I did not expect to enjoy as much as I do!). Over the past six months, I have had the opportunity to attend community networking events to represent the practice and learn more about the field. Additionally, I’ve helped research resources to enhance client care and score outcome measures on behalf of my supervisor. Lastly, I handle all of our HR processes, including onboarding new practitioners. It's been a dynamic and rewarding experience contributing to the clinic's operational excellence, online presence, community engagement, and commitment to providing the best quality of care to clients.

The most important thing I’ve learned so far in my position is how much effort goes into running a private counseling  practice. So much takes place behind the scenes to ensure that clients are greeted with a welcoming and organized environment where they can receive support. I definitely didn’t realize the importance of a business and marketing background as an independent practitioner in the field. To provide psychological services, it’s important that counsellors create a relationship of trust and communication with their clientele. In addition to the business side of things, I have gained so many transferable skills that will undoubtedly help me navigate my future career path.

Going forward, I hope to expand my professional network and play a part in the continued growth of Evergreen Wellness as a holistic mental health practice. I believe in the benefit of taking a variety of approaches to health, since everyone is unique in their needs and goals. This experience has allowed me to explore possible career paths and learn more about the industry, whereas before I was less sure of where my interests might lead me. Thank you to my wonderful supervisor, coworkers, and AWE coordinator for their continued trust and support. If you are thinking about applying to AWE to gain firsthand experience in a career-related position, I would highly recommend it!"
