Meet Hammad K.

Analyst

Alberta Infrastructure

Summer 2023 (4 month term)

"Working as an Analyst for the Alternative Capital Financing Partnerships Office at Alberta Infrastructure has equipped me with useful skills, including research, policy analysis and portfolio management. This was my first time working in public service and the experience revealed to me the unique challenges of decision-making in the government and the added responsibilities surrounding it. Problem-solving in public service requires a unique approach to satisfy diverse stakeholders, including the public and various government entities. These challenges entice me and this work term has allowed me to seriously consider pursuing a career in the public service sector.

My advice to new AWE students would be to take advantage of all the career education resources provided by the program. Speaking from experience, a fresh resume review and mock interview can have a considerable impact when trying to secure a work term. Additionally, participating in AWE-hosted events offers opportunities to network with professionals from various industries, helping you practice essential networking skills that will serve you well in future interviews and networking occasions."
