Communication is Key
In the initial weeks of your new job, you'll be diving into training, adjusting to a new schedule, and meeting new people. It's a lot to take in, and we want to ensure you feel confident and prepared so we encourage you to focus on open communication with your manager to ensure this transition is smooth and successful. By discussing your needs and expectations upfront, you avoid misunderstandings down the line, whether it's clarifying task execution, workload capacity, or dress code, every bit can help!
Here are some tips to help you open those lines of communication:
Schedule a Check-in: Within your first week or two, set up a meeting with your manager to ensure you're on the right track.
Discuss Preferences: Ask about communication preferences - can I drop by when I have questions? Do you prefer instant messages over email? Etc.
Set Goals: Define goals or learning objectives to guide your growth and development in the role.
Book Regular Meetings: Schedule regular check-ins (weekly or monthly) to stay aligned with your manager.
Ask for Feedback: Don't hesitate to seek feedback and ask questions about your performance and role expectations. Ask your manager questions like: Can you provide me with feedback about _____? How do you like to give feedback? What are your expectations of my role?
