Trust Your Transferable Skills

While your job search can certainly lead to opportunities that directly relate to specific major and minor subjects, it is important to think outside the box when applying for jobs and consider the transferable skills you have acquired from your classes. For example, Psychology and Sociology majors may thrive in marketing positions that require an understanding of consumer behaviour, even if they have never taken Business or Economics classes.

Similarly, it can be exciting to explore fields you know nothing about. While the oil and gas industry or the financial sector may be uncharted territory, give those postings a chance! Many of those employers are looking for creative problem solvers, technical writers, and all-around amazing Arts students to help them achieve their goals.

In short, approach Job Boards with an open mind - you never know where a position could take you!
