Read that Job Posting!

Whether you are looking for a work term or your first post-graduation job, it is absolutely critical to read each posting very carefully to ensure that you not only understand what the role entails, but also what the employer requires in your application. Every job posting will tell you how to apply and which documents are required but some postings will include other instructions, such as addressing your cover letter to a specific person, indicating your preference of work location, submitting your application as a single PDF, etc.

By following the directions laid out in the job posting, you will demonstrate to the employer that you are attentive to details and have strong reading comprehension skills. Remember that every step in the hiring process, from your application package to your interview, is an opportunity to create a great first impression which will encourage the employer to select you as the successful candidate.
