Meet Augustine! Augustine is in their fourth year, Bachelor of Arts, psychology major with a minor in philosophy. Augustine completed a work term as a Student Policy Analyst at Prairies Economic Development Canada as part of the Research and Analysis team.

What advice do you have for students working in government?

"My advice would be to embrace the collaborative nature of policy work. Your ideas will be refined and strengthened through multiple perspectives and you'll learn a great deal from your colleagues. Don’t be shy to ask questions – you will quickly learn that everyone is happy to share their knowledge and help you understand the nuances of the field and daily operations. The depth of knowledge and experience in government is impressive, and your colleagues are one of your greatest resources and support. Also, don't underestimate how much your academic skills translate to policy analysis. The critical thinking, research methods, and analytical writing you've developed in university are exactly what's needed in this field!"
