Behind every flawless performance is a lot of rehearsal. The same goes for those important career moments - the more you prepare, the more confident and natural you’ll feel when the spotlight’s on you.
Here’s how to build your own setlist of career-ready material:
Your Opening Line - Craft a short introduction about yourself (who you are, what you study, and what excites you). It’s like your first song: it sets the tone.
Your Greatest Hits - Have 2–3 stories or examples that highlight your strengths, skills, or proudest accomplishments. These are the moments people will remember.
Your Encore - Be ready with a couple of thoughtful questions to ask employers, mentors or new connections. It shows you’re engaged and leaves a strong last impression.
Soundcheck - Practice these out loud. You can rehearse with a friend, in the mirror, using an AI software or with your Work Experience Coordinator. Confidence comes from rehearsal, not improvisation.
With all that practice under your feathered headdress, when the curtain rises you’ll be ready to hit your marks, command the stage, and leave them wanting more. After all, that’s show business, baby.
