As the Software Development Manager I have a number of responsibilities, the primary being to deliver a high quality product or application to the end user.

The others include:

.- Responsible for ensuring the development teams are able to work as efficiently as possible with clear goals, both short and long term, and that they are unhindered in performing their tasks .

- Accountable for managing and coordinating resources and processes to deliver software releases whilst also participating in defining the product development strategy .

- Create an environment and teams that deliver outstanding software .

- Evaluate and coach developers to continually improve their performance as both technologists and employees

.- Accountable for the team’s quality, timely delivery and the project’s success .

- Accountable for having the right team members in the right roles

.- Responsible for maintaining the development teams on track (and happy)

.- Project planning and prioritisation of resources, customer demands, and support issues

.- Continual work with the development teams to ensure sufficient processes and tools are in place to meet the requirements of the business and customers and to ensure these processes are followed and tuned as needed

.- Be the team’s advocate within the company, getting them everything they need to be successful

.- Be an inspiration for innovation to the customer and the teams

.- Responsible for the recruitment and selection of contractor resources when necessary, ensuring we are getting the right resources based on the development teams needs and the particular project in question

.- Provide a software development plan that meets the future needs of clients/markets, deploying state of the art technologies

.- Evolve the existing software applications and architecture in various areas as and when needed

.- Support developers to resolve both technical problems as well as human resources issues
