The 1st Annual Student New Works Festival 2026 is produced by UAH Theatre and Film. It is a celebration of new artistic works from UAH students across campus, regardless of major. The SNWF is in its first year, and will be produced April 16-18 at the Robert E. James Blackbox Theatre (aka The Bob) in Morton Hall.
The SNWF production and performance team will consist entirely of students, and mentored by Theatre and Film faculty.
Please use the submission form to register your interest in serving on a production team, or to submit a new work of performance, performance art, dance, spoken word, music, or film.
If you are a choreographer, or want to submit a dance piece, there will be a choreography studio intensive, led by a former professional choreographer and dancer. Sessions will be held starting in February through April.
Artistic submissions will be evaluated by Theatre and Film faculty for presentation in the SNWF under the following guidelines:
The composer of the work submitted a 200 word artist statement to explain their work
The work is 10 minutes or less in running time
The work is not overly violent or sexual in nature and has no nudity (aim for a soft R movie rating)
The work is composed/performed by a UAH student, or group of UAH students
The work does not need any elaborate set, lighting, or costume design to be performed
The deadline for applications is February 16, 2026 at 5:00pm
Link to submission form is here: https://forms.gle/3uHFs6F4kKUoESUP8
