If you haven't done so already, you should add direct quotes from the primary source texts we started reading at the beginning. For example, in the case of the colonists vs. Thomas Preston, there are specific things that are written in the text that would support your argument. If I were arguing to free Thomas Preston, I might write the following.
It is apparent that Thomas Preston should not be held responsible for the "so called" massacre that evening. Thomas Preston had done everything in his power to try to end the situation peacefully. It was clear, however, that Preston was afraid for his life. He wrote, "I was struck with a club on my arm, which for some time deprived me of the use of my arm. If I would have been hit in the head, it may have killed me." Even through this he did not give the order to fire on the crowd. Instead one of his soldiers was hit. According to Preston, more and more people began to hit the soldiers. Some were yelling fire which his soldiers misunderstood as an order from Preston. Preston wrote, "a general attack was made on our soldiers by a great number of heavy clubs and snowballs being thrown at them, by which all our lives were in imminent danger, some persons at the same time from behind calling out 'why don't you fire.' Instantly three or four of the soldiers fired, one after another, and directly after three more in the same confusion and hurry." It is obvious this was not Preston's fault, but the colonists. They themselves created this riot.
