Hello and welcome to my portfolio website.
My name is Rojean Gaeni and I am the eldest daughter of my family. I was raised in Iran, Tehran, and immigrated to the United States when I was a teenager. Growing up in Iran, I always had a passion for being part of the healthcare system and pursuing higher education and becoming a leader in the community. Needless to say, I did not grow up dreaming of being a dentist. However, a collective of significant experiences impacted both my mind and my life as far as my passion for dentistry goes.
One of the individuals who changed my life and my whole perspective about my future career was my mentor, who is also my dentist. He showed me the role of dentists as a health care professional and their ability to have a significance in an individual’s life and heal wounds far beyond their teeth. With the inspiration and support from my parents and my mentor, I was able to realize my desire to serve people in the community as a dental professional.
During my time at UC Davis, I volunteered for community organizations such as CDA Care Foundation to provide free dental services to those with less accessibility. In addition, I worked and organized diligently as a dental programing coordinator at the UC Davis Pre-Health Conference to bring knowledge and information to my student community as well as the local population. Since then, I have dedicated myself and my time to seek out opportunities to help others in my community who do not have access to the necessary resources.
After my undergraduate studies, I have continued to push myself to become a part of the profession. I made an effort to gain more knowledge and skills before entering dental school by shadowing various dentists and increasing my overall understanding of the underlying subjects by enrolling in a pre-health post-baccalaureate program at the California State University, East Bay. As I moved forward, I was more confident in my decision to pursue dentistry to be my future career.
My interest in dentistry is not just a decision I have made during the past couple years, but one that has stemmed from my own experiences with various organizations, dentists and others in this field.
At Dugoni, I not only gained enormous and invaluable clinical experiences but also I established meaningful relationships with faculties, students and my patients. I not only learned to be a skilled clinician but also learned to be a better individual along the way.
Upon earning my degree, I plan to work in a private practice setting as a general dentist in the Bay Area where I am close to my friends and family. I anticipate utilizing my passion, knowledge and skills of dentistry that I have gained throughout the years in the University of Pacific to inspire positive changes and serve people in the community.
