This course was designed to provide a foundation in the pedagogy of online instruction, with a focus on key principles and practices to apply in your own setting. You will learn about the core competencies of successful instructors, practical guidelines for designing and teaching online courses, and strategies to support active learning. You will get introduced to the Canvas navigation and the best practices behind moderation of live synchronous class in Zoom. Overall, the goal is to provide you with a strong foundation in essential knowledge and skills for online instruction.
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
Describe the elements of a successful online course
Operate Canvas LMS to facilitate course and engage students
Operate Zoom software without outside help during live synchronous sessions
I am a Learning Experience Designer with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Continuing Studies. I am currently enrolled in the online Master of Educational Technology program with Boise State, and I am on track to graduate in the Spring of 2023.
