Mrs. Leahy's Sassy Scripting Journey

About Me

Welcome to my journey into calligraphy and modern hand lettering. My name is Katie Leahy and I have been an English Language Arts teacher at Tyngsborough Middle School for the past 15 years. I love my job and I couldn't imagine doing anything else with any other age group. Middle Schoolers rock, especially my current group of 7th grade ELA All-Stars.

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, and I think that's because I have a very deep love for and appreciation of learning. I LOVE to learn new things and I find a deep sense of pride and accomplishment in myself when I've mastered something, whether it be something academic in a classroom environment or something I've seen that I desperately need to learn how to do for my own reasons. My curiosity has fueled me to learn some amazing things, and this learning is the type I do myself. I don't have a teacher to rely on, it's on me. There are no tests or quizzes, no grade. It's this love for learning that I hope to instill in my students, because this passion is what will take them so far in life. So, this hobby project was born, and what better way to help my students on their ways to being life long learners than leading by example, right?!?

I have always loved letters and words. Motivational and inspirational quotes are my jam! Addressing envelopes for invitations and cards? LOVE IT! Those hand lettered signs on reclaimed wood? Can't get enough of them! There has always been this instinctive magnetic pull between myself and calligraphy and modern hand lettering. So I'm making that my challenge. I'm going on my own Sassy Scripting Journey, and I'd love for you to join me on it along the way!
