Twyning School - Newsletter 15.09.23

This week's news:

Welcome to our updated newsletter! We hope that you can all open it ok. Please give feedback if there is anything else you would like us to include on a regular basis. We also keep the website up-to-date with information and policies. The teachers use Class Dojo to send important reminders, information and updates on what each class is doing. We also send messages via School Spider so it is important that you also keep notifications switched on on this app. School Spider is also necessary so that you can advise us of any illness or absence, and for booking parents evening appointments.

 Updates

We have added a new section onto the school website called 'Communications' . Please have a look. Our up-to-date list of contacts and email addresses can also be found attached to this policy.  www.twyningschool.co.uk/page/communications/140690

CLASS DOJO...

Permission forms were sent out with all children yesterday. Please, if you have not done so already, could you sign the permission sheet and return it next week? Without this form, we will not be able to include your child's photo in any of our class and whole school updates.

Summer 2023 challenge - “Can you raise £20.23?”

Well done to those of you who raised money for our PTFA funds over the summer! This week we have received collections from Lillie, Florence. Elena and Lea, Elodie and Naomi. Well done to you all - we are very proud of you!

Inset Days - next year

Please note that we have made the decision to move our INSET day on Monday 8th January to Monday 22nd July. This means that term will now start for all pupils after Christmas on Monday 8th January 2024. The summer term will end for all pupils on Friday 19th July 2024! These term dates are on the website but please note the change on your own calendars! Apologies for any inconvenience this change may cause.

Peggy update

I wanted to let you know that Peggy is taking a couple of weeks off school as she is having some treatment from the vet. She has poorly back legs which are hurting her without her pain relief. The vet is doing some tests and I will keep you updated. Mrs Halling and Peg.

CLUBS

Activity Clubs start next week and run until half term (6 weeks). We have decided to split clubs into short terms to enable us to provide more variety across the year. All Clubs finish at 4.15pm. If your child is registered at the After School Care facility they are welcome to go straight there after their activity club and you collect at 5:15pm as usual.

Football Clubs: football club members can bring their own football kit (so come to school in uniform) including shin pads and boots.

Before and After School Care

If you are using our paid Before & After School Care facility, balances should be cleared by the end of each month at the latest. Many thanks. If you use government vouchers please email Mrs Tingle at bursar@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk  to advise when you have made a payment, each time you do this.

How do I register my child?

To register for Before or After School Club, please complete and send in the booking form which can be downloaded from our website or ask Mrs Bowen for a printed copy. These forms should be returned to Mrs Bowen at admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk .

SCHOOL Dinners

Please remember that all school dinner account balances should be in credit on parentpay at all times. Many thanks.

Bookbags and Small rucksacks

We would like to ensure that ALL children who are in Rabbits, Squirrels and Foxes Classes bring bookbags to school so that they fit into their trays in the classroom. Hedgehogs and Owls children are allowed to bring small rucksacks if they choose to instead of bookbags as long as the bag can be suitably hung up in the cloakroom. This is a decision that has been made based on staff discussion. We hope that you can fully support us with this.
