Artifact: UBD Learning Plan
Understanding by Design (UbD) lesson planning has fundamentally shifted my approach to teaching. By focusing on the desired outcomes first, I can create a more intentional and cohesive learning experience for my students. This backward design method encourages me to clearly define what students should know and be able to do by the end of a unit, which in turn informs my choice of assessments and instructional strategies. It compels me to consider not just content delivery but how to engage students meaningfully and promote deep understanding. Ultimately, UbD reinforces the importance of aligning teaching goals with assessment and activities, fostering a more effective learning environment that prepares students for real-world application of their skills.
