If you are experiencing speed or loading issues, you can try restarting your chrome browser. There are two easy ways to accomplish this. You can either:
Type, or copy & paste, chrome://restart - If you enter this into your address bar it will restart Chrome while saving your currently open tabs.
Close your browser by clicking on the 'X' at the top right of your browser window. Once it is closed, simply reopen the program and continue on.
Restarting your Chromebook can help it to run more smoothly or fix some issues. In order to ensure that the restart is effective, please follow the steps below.
Close any open Google Chrome windows.
Click on the bottom right of your Chromebook screen where the time is displayed.
3. Select the power symbol next to your profile picture and select Shut Down. Do not physically close your Chromebook during this process as it may go to sleep instead of shutting down.
4. Wait 5 - 10 seconds to allow it to shut down fully.
5. Power your Chromebook back on and log in.
You have successfully restarted your Chromebook.
If the other options haven't helped your Chromebook run better, you can try resetting your Chromebook's Chrome Settings.
Click on the three stacked dots at the top right of your Chrome Browser (1.), then click on the Settings option (2.)
2. Next select 'Advanced' in order to display the Advanced options.
3. Select the 'Reset Settings' option below the newly revealed Advanced menu (1.) and then select the option to 'Restore settings to their original defaults' option in the center of the screen (2.)
4. On the new menu select the 'Reset settings' option.
5. Your settings have been reset to their defaults and this should hopefully fix the issue you are having.
If you are having issues charging your Chromebook, please work through the following steps.
Try plugging your Chromebook charger into a different electrical wall outlet.
Make sure you line up the tip of your charging cable (1) to enter as straight as possible into the charging port (2) on your Chromebook.
When plugging in your Chromebook, try to use gentle but firm pressure to make sure the tip presses fully into the charging port. Do not force it if there is a blockage or great resistance.
Over time if you do not take care when plugging in your Chromebook, the tip or the port can become damaged and will become increasingly difficult to charge. We have even had instances of charging tips breaking off inside the charging ports, so please take care of your device.
3. Ensure you have a good connection at all points of your Chromebook charger. Make sure the plug (1) is in the wall outlet correctly, that the outlet cable is well connected to the power adapter (2), and that the Chromebook charging plug (3) is securely plugged into your Chromebook itself.
4. When correctly plugged in, the charge indicator light should be on. If your charge indicator light isn't activating, try slightly adjusting the angle or pressure used when plugging in your Chromebook.
If these steps don't help you in charging your Chromebook, please let us know at Help@trcs.org so we can arrange a time to have your device looked at.
Chromebooks by default should turn on as soon as they are opened. If your Chromebook will not turn on by either opening the device or pressing the power button please try the below steps to power it on.
Before trying any of the following steps, please make sure you've looked at the instructions above on charging your Chromebook and confirm your charge indicator light is activating on the device.
Press and hold the 'Power' button (1) on your Chromebook for 10 seconds. If no response, move to the next step.
Hold down the 'Refresh' button (2) and then press the 'Power' button, this should perform a hard reset of your Chromebook.
If neither of these steps help to power on your device, please let us know at Help@trcs.org so we can arrange a time to have your device looked at.
