Also, the application process as that is a frequent question:
All 11th grade students with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher at the end of the fall semester will be invited to apply to join the Twin Valley Chapter of the National Honor Society. This invite will be emailed to each students' school email account and parent/guardian email listed in Infinite Campus shortly after the grades are finalized and reported for the fall semester. The invite will ask students to attend an informational meeting with the advisors that will walk them through the process for applying and provided them with the link to the application.
Additionally, the ranked top 10% of the 10th grade students at the end of the fall semester will be invited to apply one year early to join the Twin Valley Chapter of the National Honor Society. Any 10th grader who applies early and does not get accepted will be re-invited to apply as an 11th grader provided they have a cumulative GPA of 3.75+ at the end of the fall semester.
When applying, students will be admitted on the basis of the four pillars of the NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character (https://www.nationalhonorsociety.org/about/everyday-pillars-of-nhs/). Students will be expected to write a personal essay to describe how they have demonstrated each of these pillars during their time in high school both in and out of the classroom setting. Therefore, students who desire to join the Twin Valley Chapter of the NHS should begin early by living out these everyday pillars now.
Once inducted into the Twin Valley Chapter of the NHS, students join the national roster of NHS members. Provided they continue to meet the expectations of their membership, they will have the privilege of graduating as a member of the Twin Valley Chapter of the National Honor Society. They can include all their accomplishments and service through the Twin Valley Chapter of the NHS on their college/university applications or resumes, and they wear a NHS stole over their graduation gown. Additionally, they have access to apply for the National Honor Society Scholarship (https://www.nationalhonorsociety.org/advisers/the-nhs-scholarship/) as well as our local Twin Valley NHS Scholarship.
