Thank you for a fantastic year!!

Have a wonderful summer and keep on reading!!!

Old news:

My classroom is a fun and exciting place to learn as well as a kind and respectful room to grow. We work very hard everyday in here and I hope you continue to work on the skills we practice at home nightly. Please check the kindergarten link for the monthly newsletter updates!!

I expect students to arrive at school ready to learn! We use Kelso's choices in our room, as well as a 3 colored behavior system. The wheel of choices as well as a mini book will be sent home. Reviewing the choices with your child is a great way to reinforce what we discuss during the day.

Also, just a few tips: Students should be practicing shoe-tying and self-help skills regarding clothing (keeping masks in place, tucking in shirts, using belts, hand washing, using tissues, and the restroom) in order to help make the transitions during the day smooth.

Here are some of the goals I expect all students should be able to:

Write their first and last name using Upper and lowercase letters.

Use pencils, scissors, and glue appropriately.

Name each letter and the sound that corresponds.

Count to 20 (End of the year: 100 and recognize the numbers to 120).

Rhyme

Segment sounds C-A-T= cat

Adding and deleting sounds to the beginning or ending of a word to made a new word

Reading sight words (100 by the end of the year)

If your student has not mastered these skill yet please practice nightly to insure they will stay on track:)

A few quick reminders:

Please remember to send a snack for your child everyday. We do not provide snack in Kindergarten.

Read EVERY night! The AR goal is set for 3 points this semester! Please use the planner in the binder and check nightly for homework and messages from me. Please initial on each day, and let me know how your child will be going home each day in the planner. This is very important!! BA stands for buffalo adventure and that will let me know that your child will not be going to carline, otherwise simply write carline.

Thank you so much for all you do to ensure your child is getting the most out of their education here at the Charter School!
