Day 15- 9/09/15 Relaxing in Yachats

After visiting so many beautiful sights for the last two weeks, we are just relaxing for a couple of days here at the wonderful Overleaf Lodge and Spa......enjoying the smell and sound of the ocean......just taking in the breathtaking power and beauty of the ocean. Yachats is a little town (population just 635) with a quiet unhurried atmosphere. It is nestled between the lush forested mountains of the Coast range and the lapping rocky Pacific. It's name is derived from the Chinook Indian word Yahuts, meaning "dark waters at the foot of the mountain".

It actually seems very different here than it was last week because there is marine layer of fog in the area. We were told by locals that when it gets hot in the Williamette Valley (which it is) the warm air flows over here to the coast and is cooled by the Pacific Ocean causing the fog. The fog didn't interfere with us taking a walk along the 804 trail where we were able to explore on the rocks and enjoy the changing scenery along the ocean. The sun broke through the fog at times to brighten things up.
