Day 3 - Whidbey Island
We started our day with another delicious breakfast at the Wild Iris Inn.
When you travel the Pacific Northwest you should expect some rain which we had today. However, we were able to visit all our planned destinations during the rain-free periods and enjoyed some truly beautiful scenery.
We headed back over to Whidbey Island crossing the Deception Pass bridge. First stop was Ft. Casey State Park with its old guns and gun emplacements, tunnels, a lighthouse, a bluff, open space and views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

We also saw the Ft. Casey conference center with its barracks where our son, Dan, stayed with his soccer team when he attended Nazareth College.
We stopped at Greenbank Farm and had lunch at Whidbey Pies and Cafe. We don't usually eat dessert with lunch but their loganberry and marionberry pies were too tempting to resist!
Our next stop was at the prairie lookout at Ebey's Landing State Park. After enjoying the view we drove down to the Ebey's Landing beach area where you could look across the strait and see the Olympic peninsula mountains.

We drove back to our B&B and spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the sunshine, breeze, and flowers on the beautiful porch.
