Day 8- Shore Road
It was a beautiful day to be near the ocean so we took a scenic ride on Shore Road. This coastal route along the Atlantic offers stunning views of rocky coastlines, sandy beaches, and charming seaside villages. Our first stop was at 3-mile-long Ogunquit Beach for a walk.
We next visited Cape Neddick Lighthouse, also known as Nubble Light, named that because it sits on a small, rocky island called the Cape Neddick Nubble. Access to the lighthouse is either by boat or from the mainland using a small cable car (more like a zip-line). We spent time enjoying the beautiful weather, light breeze, and sounds of the waves crashing against the rocky shore.
We continued on south past Long Sands Beach to York Harbor where we walked around the Hartley Mason Reservation, a beautiful oceanfront park. The grounds, located across the street from York Harbor Inn, offer spectacular views of the Atlantic and the mouth of the York River.
We stayed in York Harbor for lunch at the York Harbor Inn, which has beautiful landscaping in addition to the fine dining.
