Day 7 - 9/6/2019- To the Michigan Shoreline

*The first order of business is the answer to yesterday’s question:  “In addition to the national cemetery on Mackinac Island, what are the other 4 national landmarks that continuously fly the American Flag at half-mast?”  If you guessed Arlington National Cemetery, Gettysburg, Pearl Harbor, and the Ground Zero 911 Memorial in NYC, you are correct.

Today we left St. Ignace in light rain and crossed back over the Mackinac Bridge just in time to see the 12th annual Mackinac Bridge Antique Tractor Bridge Crossing!   Hundreds of tractors line up and parade across the bridge from Mackinaw City to St. Ignace.  Thankfully they were going in the opposite direction and there were hundreds of people lining the streets in the rain to wave to them.  This year’s registration was capped at 1,500 tractors.  Many of the drivers were staying at our hotel and they were a rowdy bunch!
