Day 10 - (9/16/21) - Acadia National Park
We left Harpswell early and drove north to Mount Desert Island, the largest island off the coast of Maine, to Acadia National Park. After stopping at the Hull’s Cove Visitor Center, we drove to the summit of Cadillac Mountain which rises to 1,528 feet above sea level. It is not only the highest mountain in Acadia National Park, but the highest point along the entire coast of the US. As the road rises up the mountainside there are sweeping views of several lakes, bays, and the town of Bar Harbor down below. We took a leisurely stroll along the paved Cadillac Summit Loop Trail enjoying the wonderful views of the surrounding areas and the colorful granite boulders.
