Day 20 - 9/10/2018 - A Day Trip to Valdez

Today's Weather:  High 69 (in Valdez), Low 43, bright sunny skies! 

Willow Lake B&B is an authentic hand made log cabin on the shore of Willow Lake, a beautiful shallow water lake at the base of Willow Mt.  Beyond the lake the Wrangell Mts. of the  Wrangell- St. Elias National Park are visible.  Although the cozy log cabin has all the amenities of home you feel like part of the wilderness as you enjoy the tranquility and view of this undeveloped and serene lake while sitting on your back porch.  Who knew there are swans in Alaska?!  We counted 7 swans a swimming right from our cabin!  Our host, Linda, prepared us a delicious sourdough pancake breakfast in her log cabin home that was also built by her husband.  This home could be right out of the movies….just imagine an Alaskan hunting lodge with a plethora of mounted hunting and fishing trophies and historical memorabilia of their 50 plus years in Alaska.  The Marchinis both worked on building the Trans Alaska Pipeline. They lived in a  trailer while Jim built their home.
