New Staff

Amazing Mrs. Greco!

She’s a new teacher and her name is Mrs. Greco!! She chose Tupper Lake because her son lives here. She chose elementary school because she likes working with young children. Mrs. Greco attended two colleges. One of the college’s name was Montgomery Community College, which is near where she grew up. She also went to College of Saint Rose. Mrs. Greco went there because of its collegiate reputation. Mrs. Greco likes working with children watching them grow and learn throughout the year. Mrs. Greco likes to sing, dance, play the piano, snowshoe, cook, cross country ski, read, and spend time with her grandchildren. Wow, she is busy! Mrs. Greco thinks there are too many good songs to have a favorite one. Her favorite food is pizza because of how it tastes. She has two kids there names are Krysten and Kristofor. Krysten is her daughter and she is 29 and Krystofor is her son who is 26 years old. She likes the color purple and she does not have any pets. For the holidays, she celebrates with her kids by having breakfast and then they unwrap their gifts. After Christmas, she likes to gather with her siblings to celebrate. One of her favorite parts of the holiday season is the twinkling lights and decorated trees. Also, being with her family is special to her. Sounds like she’s a hard working and fun addition to our school!!!

Miss Larkin Returns to LPQ

We’re writing about a new teacher Miss Larkin! She likes teaching because she loves helping kids and she enjoys it when they learn. She also choose the elementary school over middle/high because she gets along better with younger children. Miss Larkin is originally from Tupper Lake, and went to college at SUNY Potsdam because it is close to home. She has lots of hobbies but a couple of them are to spend time with friends and family and to go shopping. Miss Larkin has lots of favorite songs but her overall favorite song is Meet Virginia by Train! Her favorite food is sushi, and she does not have any kids but she does have a dog. Welcome to our school Miss Larkin; we are excited to have you!

Introducing... Miss Conboy!

Let's welcome another new teacher at L.P. Quinn. Her name is Ms. Conboy and she is teaching in 4th grade! Ms. Conboy likes teaching because everyday is a different experience and she loves to get to know the students. She chose to work at Tupper Lake because she loves the Adirondacks. Ms. Conboy picked elementary because she likes to teach all subjects and she doesn’t want to teach kids that are taller than her. Ms. Conboy went to the college at William Smith College. She choose this college because her house was near William Smith College. Her favorite part of her job is teaching students and watching her students realize they reached their goals. Ms. Conboy’s hobbies are hiking, skiing with her dog and swim team. Her favorite song is Upside Down by Jack Johnson because it puts her in a good mood in the morning. Ms. Conboy's favorite food is candy because its sweet. She doesn’t have any kids but she does have a dog name Margo. It's a Bernese Mountain Dog and her favorite color is blue. She celebrates the holidays by having a big dinner with the whole family. Her favorite time of the holidays are seeing family. We're happy to have you, Ms. Conboy!

There's a New Kindergartener in Town!

Mrs. Retzloff is a new Kindergarten teacher here at L.P. Quinn Elementary school! She likes to work with children and she loves it when children get excited. Mrs. Retzloff chose to work in Tupper Lake because she wanted to live near her family and she wanted to work full time here. She chose L.P.Quinn Elementary School because anyone over five scares her a little bit. Mrs. Retzloff went to Marymount College because it was in her hometown, which is called Tarrytown. Her favorite part of teaching is watching kids learn to read and write. Mrs. Retzloff has a few hobbies, which are to quietly read and walk with her dogs. Her favorite song is Feather Bed by John Denver. Her favorite foods are chinese food and curry. She has two kids. Her son, Alex, is 25 and her daughter, Megan, is 21 years old. Her favorite color is red. She has three dogs. They are named Lily, Adi, and Emberk. Lily and Adi are yellow labs and Emberk is a black lab. She celebrates holidays by cooking food and by decorating her house. She also celebrates by baking cookies. Her favorite part of the holidays is sleeping, seeing the lights, and she loves the smells. She also loves seeing her kids. It sounds like she’s an amazing person and a great addition to the L.P.Quinn school!!!

Welcoming Miss Schwartz

Miss Schwartz is one of our teachers here at L.P Quinn Elementary. She is one of our newest editions of the Special Education Staff! She loves teaching because she always had a passion for teaching and she likes to watch her students grow. She chose to teach in Tupper Lake over other towns because of Mr. Southwick, the Director of Special Education, made the position sound amazing. Miss Schwartz chose to work at an Elementary school over Middle or High school because she likes little kids over teenagers. The reason is because teenagers are taller than her. Miss Schwartz went to The College of Saint Rose because of the amazing program and courses; she felt very at home. Miss Schwartz’s favorite part of her job is playing games and goofing around because she loves seeing all of the kids happy faces. Miss Schwartz’s hobbies are baking, doing yoga, and reading. Her favorite song is “Can't Stop The Feeling.” She states “it's fun to sing and dance to.” Miss Schwartz’s favorite food is pad thai, a yummy, spicy noodle chicken dish. Miss Schwartz’s favorite color is yellow because it’s bright and fun. Miss Schwartz has a dog named Rosie, who is 5 years old. She celebrates the holidays Christmas and Hanukkah and spends time with family and friends. She likes to spend the holidays by continuing traditions. Her favorite part of the holidays is baking. This is our new teacher, Miss Schwartz.

There's a New Principal in Town

Dr. Pinard is the principal of L.P Quinn and here are some facts about her. Dr. Pinard decided to be principal of L.P Quinn when she came to the school in the 70’s or 80’s and saw that it was an open school. An open school is a school with no walls! Currently, our school is not an open school since we have walls between the rooms. Dr. Pinard says she thought the school was very progressive. When asked what responsibility comes with being principal, Dr. Pinard stated, “The biggest responsibility is making decisions based on what is best for all children and their welfare.” Dr. P’s favorite part of being principal is interacting with all the students and teachers! Also, the teachers, parents, and administrators all inspire Dr. Pinard to be a good example. Dr. Pinard thinks that saying and doing, leading by example, and doing the right thing is the best way to set a good example. Dr. Pinard enjoys being principal because she loves kids and the hard work leads to a better life. She has been to Canada, South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, Israel, Greece, France, England, China, Korea, Thailand, India, and Trinidad and Tobago. That’s a total of 13 countries! Dr. P’s favorite activity is swimming because it is peaceful and very healthy. Her favorite character pillars are respect, responsibility, caring, citizenship, and fairness. Dr.P’s favorite types of music are Rock and Roll, Jazz, and Blues. Dr. P’s favorite time periods are 60s and 70s, but Dr. Pinard would have loved to lived in the Frontier days with her husband. Dr. Pinard’s favorite book is The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. When Dr. Pinard was asked what’s one thing she would like the students of L.P Quinn to remember, she said she believes in every L.P Quinn student. I hope you enjoyed the many things about Dr. Pinard.

Getting to Know Mr. Tomkin

Let’s welcome a new teacher at L.P. Quinn, Mr. Tomkin! He likes teaching because he likes to see the kids and watch them learn new things. Mr. Tomkin chose to work in Tupper Lake because his wife works here in Tupper Lake and he loves the Adirondacks. He works at the elementary and the middle/high school. Mr. Tomkin went to college at SUNY Plattsburgh so he could play hockey. His favorite part of his job is seeing new students. Mr. Tomkin’s hobbies are playing hockey, watching hockey, and basically, anything to do with hockey. His favorite type of music is anything to do with heavy metal. His favorite food is hamburgers because you can put anything on top of them. He has no kids, his favorite color is green and has a pet turtle. Her name is Shelly.this is Mr. Tomkin is a great person and we’re glad to have him.

Mrs. Cote Comes to L.P. Quinn

Mrs. Cote is one of the new employees here at L. P. Quinn! Read and find out to ≥see why she wanted to work here and some more interesting facts about her. Mrs. Cote wanted to work here because everybody is very nice. She also wanted to work here because her daughter Rylee is here and her other daughter, Astell, will be here in a couple years. Mrs. Cote went to SUNY Potsdam. She went there because it is close to her home and it is a decent drive. Mrs. Cote’s favorite part of her job is getting to know the teachers and the students. She is still learning her duties and other teachers are helping her do her job. Mrs. Cote’s favorite thing to do when she is not in school is to cooking, and spending time with her two favorite people, Rylee and Astell. Before coming to L. P. Quinn, Mrs. Cote worked as the Administrator at the ARC here in Tupper Lake. Her favorite song is Drops of Jupiter by Train. Mrs. Cote has two dogs, Laci, Jane and Dakota. Mrs. Cote’s favorite holiday is birthdays because she likes to spoil her family and friends to make them feel special and loved. These are facts about Mrs.Cote and what she likes hope you enjoyed.
