Nurturing Growth Together
The Tunas Muda School Song begins with the words “Proud are we to be in Sekolah Tunas Muda” and this year’s PYP Exhibition has made us all live these words every step of the process. The PYPX has provided a wide range of opportunities, challenges and victories for both students and mentors and has enabled everyone involved to feel proud of being a part of a great achievement.
Our students and teachers have spent almost 2 years in this very challenging learning situation and I am very proud of the way that everyone has adapted, developed new skills and overcome challenges to continue the learning process in the very best way possible. The PYP Exhibition is planned to be a celebration of the students’ learning journey and I am sure you will agree that it is a true celebration! Year 6 students have followed their individual interests to showcase their learning while demonstrating their skills development and their growing understanding of the world around them. The Year 6 Teachers and Mentors have inspired, monitored, pushed and encouraged the students to reach their goals and should be very proud of all they have achieved.
We thank all visitors who come and support our students and teachers in the PY Exhibition this year and we hope that you are inspired by what you see and hear. Our motto, “Be true! Be you! Yok bias yok!” can stay with us all, as a reminder to follow our own dreams and interests, work hard and be the very best version of ourselves.
Congratulations, Year 6! Be proud of yourselves, as we are all very proud of you!
(Ms. Rachel Groves- Principal)
“WHAT?” “WHEN?” “HOW?” “AGAIN?” “PINGSAN DULU” “CAN’T WAIT” “BRING IT ON!” are some of the expressions from the students, the mentors, and the parents when they hear that we are going to the exhibition virtually this year.
When students reach their final year of the Primary Years Programme, they engage in what we call the PYP Exhibition.
The PYP Exhibition is a very significant event in their lives because it brings together all areas of the students’ education: acquiring knowledge, understanding concepts, putting skills into practice, and taking action.
It is also an opportunity for students to exhibit the IB learner profile attributes that they have developed throughout their school years. During the Exhibition process, students lead a cycle of meaningful inquiry independently. They begin by making connections to their prior knowledge and interest, they investigate and sort out the new information, apply their knowledge, reflect on their learning and take action. The inquiry cycle is a fluid, and never-ending process, where the new understandings pose new questions and invite new learning.
This year, students have been further challenged by having to develop their Exhibition and present it virtually with the theme of How We Express Ourselves. I am truly very proud of what they have achieved. This PYP Exhibition is about celebrating what our Year 6 students have been through. So, congratulations, once again, for your achievements throughout the Exhibition process to all of our Year 6 students.
