Edward or Jacob, Ross or Joey, Gatsby or Tom...Three characters who are fighting for their happy ending. Love triangles are some of the most cringe-worthy stories and someone ALWAYS gets hurt. Love triangles create the SHIP that people argue all over the internet about. So no matter what side your own, love triangles are sure to get you hyped for that ending.
My personal favorite trope of all time. I LOVE that angst of hatred at the beginning, where our characters loathe each other for (ridiculous) reasons. Then they start to fall for each other but won't admit it, even to themselves. Then FINALLY we get the ending where they've decided that even though they are different, their love is way too strong to fight anymore! EEEEEK!
These characters act like they're basically siblings, but as they get older they start to realize their true feelings. Their friendship is what makes their eventual romance so gushworthy. Their bond over their past makes them unbelievably close so it's no surprise when sparks fly.
"Oh no there's a blizzard outside and we're stuck in this cozy cabin together! I wonder what we'll do with our time?" Whether our characters hate each other or they already caught feelings, stuck together causes the temperature to rise and the drama to build.
Romeo and Juliet shows us that sometimes our parents might have been right.. Forbidden love can come in many forms, but basically two people can't be together for some reason and that is causing some SERIOUS angst.
Whether it is a bet or a secret arrangement or a dare, these relationships start off as completely and totally FAKE. Neither of the two characters wants to fall in love, it might even be part of the deal that they don't. But we all know the little by little one or both of the characters start to catch feelings and we're here for it.
